Government colleges are owned and managed by the State or Central Government. These colleges charge very low tuition fees. Yes, they provide subsidized education to students. On the other hand, private pharmacy colleges are known to charge relatively higher tuition fees. These colleges are owned and managed by private charitable and educational trusts.

 

The fees factor makes Govt colleges the preferred destination among students. This is the main reason why majority of applicants prefer Govt colleges over self-financing ones.

 

If you want to secure admission into a Govt or reputed private college, one must crack relevant entrance exam. These exams are conducted at State, College and National levels.

 

These exams are carried out with the aim of conducting merit based admission process. Under this system, seats are distributed among deserving candidates on the basis of their performance in relevant entrance exam.

Diploma in Pharmacy: This Diploma certificate course is 3 years long. Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to pursue this course.

Pharm D: Pharm D stands for Doctor of Pharmacy. 12th Science pass students are eligible to pursue this course. This is a UG level academic program. The course duration is 6 years.

 

M.Pharm.: This is a PG level course. Technically, it is a Master’s Degree course. Students who have completed relevant Bachelor’s Degree course (like B.Pharm.) are eligible to pursue this course. The course duration is 2 years. M.Pharm. program can be used to specialize in sub-branches within the field of pharmacy.

 

On the basis of academic level, the above mentioned courses can be classified into the following levels – UG, PG or Doctoral Degree. Based on the format of the course, these programs can be classified into the following levels – Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, PG Diploma or Doctoral Degree.
