There exists two main types of medical colleges in Assam –

The classification of colleges has been carried out on the basis of the entity that owns the college. Government colleges are owned and operated by the State or Central Government. Private medical colleges are owned and operated by private charitable trusts and educational trusts.


Government colleges are known to charge very low tuition fees. These colleges provide subsidized education to its students. Private medical colleges are known to charge relatively higher tuition fees.


Admission process
