Internet usage in India is increasing each year rapidly. More and more folks are jumping in into this bandwagon. The smartphone revolution is, to an extent, responsible for this trend. Thanks to this trend, more and more Government agencies are trying to make their services available online! Consider IRCTC, they introduced online ticket booking years ago. Recently, they even upgraded their servers and made the process whole lot faster and smoother! GSRTC (Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation) is also following the footsteps of IRCTC, it seems! In this article, I’ll describe aspects associated with online ticket booking in GSRTC website.
First of all, the site’s UI is very simple. As soon as the site is opened, one will be able to access the ‘find bus’ service. One just has to enter the ‘from’, ‘to’ locations, the date of journey and the number of passengers. Upon hitting enter after providing those information, the site will return the available services.
Users may check seat availability by clicking on the respective bus service mentioned in the list returned by the site. Ticket may be booked using the ‘guest user’ mode or ‘registered user’ mode.
Payment has to be made online, using credit card or debit card. Upon successful completion of ticket booking, user will be sent an SMS to the entered mobile number. In addition to that, a copy of the ticket will also be forwarded to the mentioned email address.
User then has to take a print out of the ticket and carry it during the journey. Cancelling a booked ticket is also easy. In case of a registered user, a ticket can be cancelled by finding it among other tickets in the ‘booked history’ and cancelling it later.
In the case of a guest user, there is an option provided on the extreme right corner of the site. That section can be accessed to cancel a booked ticket.
Refund will be provided, but only after deducting a small processing charge from the original amount of the ticket. Overall, the processing and the performance of the site is satisfactory.
