To build a rewarding career in the field of Fashion Designing, there exists a number of courses that interested students may pursue. Bachelor of Fashion Technology: Basic course details

It is a 4 years long residential program. This period of 4 years is divided into 8 semesters. Apart from theoretical knowledge, adequate importance is given to practical knowledge, internship program, field trips, projects etc.

 

The aim of this program is to make students familiar with the latest techniques, instruments, technology etc used in the fashion industry. The field of textiles, garments and clothing has evolved really fast and has become what the fashion industry is today. BFT program trains students so that they become well equipped, in terms of technology and methods used today in the fashion industry.

 

Further, students are also taught to be innovative. Workshops and practical projects are also conducted throughout the BFT program, which ensures that students are getting chance to innovate and bring forward their own style and techniques! Also, apart from the traditional designing and creation part of fashion industry, the management part of this industry is also given much importance in the BFT program. Management subjects like- marketing, finance management, merchandising, promotion and marketing etc also form an integral part of Bachelor of Fashion Technology program!

 

Students are also given ‘technical’ lessons regarding the working of commonly used as well as latest machinery used in the fashion sector. Entrepreneurship lessons are also given, which definitely will help students start their own venture after graduation.

 

Eligibility Criteria

In case of premier institutes like NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), only 12th Science stream students (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects) are eligible to apply for Bachelor of Fashion Technology program. They also have an entrance test, which interested candidates have to clear!
