We are well aware of units of measurement like kilometer, meter, inch, kilogram etc. But here is a list of some units you probably mightn’t have heard of:
It is used to measure the height of horses. The measurement is taken from the hoof to the highest point on the horse’s shoulder. One hand is equivalent to 10.16cm.
Used by typographers and printers, it refers to the size of a letter such as ‘x’. One point is equivalent to 0.3528mm.
You may be well aware of Ounce. Troy Ounce is used to measure the weight of precious metals and diamonds. It is named after the French city of Troyes. One Troy Ounce is equivalent to 31.1035g. A standard international gold-bar weighs 400 Troy Ounces.
